Meridia HCL
Meridia (sibutramine hydrochloride or sibutramine hydrochloride monohydrate) by altering neurotransmitters within the brain and is used along with a low- calorie diet to help people with obesity lose weight.
The preparation is taken in the morning with food or even without it, the capsule is swallowed whole and taken with a sufficient amount of liquid (e.g., a glass of water).

PRECAUTIONS
Pulmonary Hypertension Certain centrally-acting weight loss agents that cause release of serotonin from nerve terminals have been associated with pulmonary hypertension (PPH), a rare but lethal disease. In premarketing clinical studies, no cases of PPH have been reported with sibutramine capsules. Because of the low incidence of this disease in the underlying population, however, it is not known whether or not MERIDIA may cause this disease.
What Drugs, Substances, or Supplements Interact with Meridia?
Meridia may interact with other medicines that make you sleepy (such as cold or allergy medicines, sedatives, narcotics, sleeping pills, muscle relaxers, and medicines for seizures, depression, or anxiety), decongestants, cough medicines, other diet pills, lithium, L-tryptophan, ketoconazole, antibiotics, antidepressants, ergot medicines, or migraine headache medicines. Tell your doctor all medications and supplements you use.

Current Status
As of now, Meridia is no longer widely available due to its safety profile. It is classified as a controlled substance in some regions, and patients are advised to consult healthcare providers for safer alternatives for weight management.
